When I develop a formula, I always try to know a plant oil in depth so as to ensure that it brings the properties that I really want to the skin.

I had never tasted fresh cherries until I was in my twenties when I was living in Paris. We didn't have fresh cherries in Mauritius and the only ones I had tasted as a kid was the sugared one on top of the cake! :)

I love cherries for all their health goodness - an ample supply of fiber, protein, and vitamin A and C - on top of being sweet and delicious. I always look forward for summer time for the fresh ones to appear at the supermarket or at the market stalls. 

No need to say that I was interested in this plant oil, extracted by cold pressing the seeds of the 'Sweet Cherry' (Prunus avium), a plant native to Europe. If Sweet Almond oil is a more familiar plant oil to you, then Cherry Oil is comparable to Sweet Almond oil, except that it has a less "fatty" feel. 

It is rich in vitamin A and packed with antioxidants, Oleic acid and natural emollients, which help to improve the conditions of dry skin without leaving any heaviness on the skin.

What is Oleic acid?

It is a godsend for dry, ageing skin as it is readily absorbed by the skin, going deeper into the skin layers, hence replenishing lost moisture that naturally comes with age. It also helps lock in moisture without clogging the pores, therefore keeps the skin supple.

The only thing I find with Cherry Oil is that it naturally has quite a strong smell ... which may not be totally pleasant. But used in combination with other plant oils and the unique blend of essential oils in our Moringa & Cherry Cleansing Balm, it disappears.
